1. Introduction to Derma Rolling

Derma rolling, also called micro-needling, is a cosmetic skin treatment that uses a handheld roller with tiny, sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These micro-channels stimulate collagen and elastin production, promoting smoother, firmer, and healthier-looking skin.

Micro-needling also enhances the absorption of serums and topical products, making them more effective.

2. Benefits of Derma Rolling

  • Improves skin texture and tone

  • Reduces fine lines and wrinkles

  • Minimizes acne scars, pigmentation, and stretch marks

  • Promotes hair growth on the scalp

  • Enhances absorption of serums and growth factors

3. Do’s and Don’ts of Derma Rolling

Do’s ✅

  • Clean your device thoroughly before and after use (warm water + 70% isopropyl alcohol)

  • Cleanse your skin to remove makeup, oils, and dirt

  • Apply hydrating serums or topical products after treatment

  • Start with short needle lengths (0.25–0.5 mm) for home use

  • Follow recommended treatment frequency to allow skin to heal

  • Store your derma roller in a clean, dry case

  • Consult a professional if unsure about needle length or technique

Don’ts ❌

  • Do not share your device — risk of infection

  • Do not use on broken, irritated, or inflamed skin

  • Avoid strong acids, retinoids, or harsh treatments immediately after rolling

  • Do not press too hard — needles should glide lightly

  • Avoid sun exposure or tanning immediately after treatment

  • Do not use needles longer than 1.5 mm at home — longer lengths are for professional use only

HOW OFTEN

You may believe that by derma rolling more often you will get the results you want sooner.

In fact rolling too often will do your skin more harm than good because:

  • Your skin needs time to recover from the inflammation caused by derma rolling
  • Rolling too often will break down the collagen in your skin before it has had a chance to form properly
  • Collagen is a slow process, so have patients! results will come and remember your skin will continue to repair and renew even for months after your last rolling session
